L&D Training Programme

The APPNZ Learning & Development Training Programme runs over 12 months. Each module involves listening to a recorded briefing. This can be completed either individually or as a team, and then completing the practical exercises to test your knowledge or skills. These exercises can be either completed online, or if you are a Manager running the programme with your team, these can be printed off and completed as a team.


You can join the programme at any time during the year and work through every module. Alternatively you can just complete the modules of your choosing (after they have run) to fill in any areas where you want to update or grow your knowledge. APPNZ Members receive 8 modules per annum as part of your membership. You can also purchase modules which have already run, to complete in your own time. These are $45 + GST per module.


We are also working with the University sector on developing formal L&D Qualification and Payroll Qualifications in New Zealand.



Foundations Level

These workshops are for those who are newer to Learning & Development and want to build a solid base of knowledge of the different areas of learning.

These workshops are for those who have some experience in a Learning & Development role but want to build their skills and knowledge to move into a Learning Partner level role in the future.

Advanced Level

Running Feb - April 2019

These workshops are for those with significant Learning & Development experience who want to challenge and stretch their skills and knowledge, and hear new ideas and thinking.

Competency Framework

The APPNZ Learning Professional Competency  Model is based on 6 key areas of Learning and defines the outcomes expected at each level. Learning Professionals can use this model to assess where their current skill level is, how this links to their current and future role and what training and development they want to take to grow their skills further.
