The Learning Advisory Panel

The Learning Advisory Panel represent the L&D profession. They include representatives for different industries, different level payroll roles, practitioner and academic roles and from locations across New Zealand. The Panel advise the Association on activities, assess applications for Professional Associates, organise events and run other initiatives. Our Learning Advisory Panel include:

Angela Atkins

People & Learning Director, Elephant Group International

Angela has worked in HR, L&D and Training roles for the last 20 years including roles as Learning Manager for Postie+ Retail Chain and ING Insurance (One Path).

As GM, Training and then People and Learning Director  at Elephant, she has designed and facilitated the Management Bites training programme, which has trained thousands of managers. She has now launched this programme globally. She has also designed and run the Refresh HR and Employment Law courses which over 1,500 people have completed. She also organises Elephant’s conferences.

Angela is passionate about learning that delivers real results, and is fun and practical. She co-founded Elephant to provide this. She is also the best selling author of Management Bites, Employment Bites and Training Bites and the recently released Safety Bites.


Gregor Kempt

Head of Learning, Xero


Gregor has worked in a number of learning roles over the last 20 years including as a programme manager, instructional designer, learning and organisational development advisor, facilitator, learning and development manager and now head of learning at Xero. 


He has developed most of his knowledge and skill through experience but have supplemented it with  core learning from a professional qualification. This gave him a solid base on which to keep building his capability.


Gregor says that what he loves about learning is the fantastic opportunity it gives people to fully engage in their role and career. I believe in New Zealand there's a huge opportunity to be more innovative in the way we approach learning with an equally huge challenge to keep it simple and engaging. That's what keeps me fired up.

Kamila Hoffmann-Dumienski

L&D Consultant, Vodafone


Kamila is an enthusiastic learning professional with more than five years of experience working in the public, private, and non-government sectors in Europe, South America and Asia-Pacific.

She is current L&D Consultant at Vodafone. Previous to this she worked as L&D Coordinator for Statistics New Zealand and the Ministry of Education (Cook Islands).

She was involved in the development of The Digital School of the Cook Islands-Te Kura Uira. Working on this exciting project inspired Kamila to conduct further research and write a paper on blended learning and professional development across the islands of the South Pacific, grounded in the concepts of social learning and online Communities of Practice.

With a B.Sc. in Psychology and M.A. in Adult learning Kamila enjoys using educational technologies to create engaging blended learning experiences and enhancing learning by integrating theory and practice.


Mark Greaney

Director, NZ Facilitators


Mark is a Facilitator and Organisational Development Consultant with 12 years experience in people development. He is able to build rapport easily and can turn even the most reluctant attendees into fully engaged and active participants with his fresh, informal and fun approach.


His previous roles were in management, recruitment, contracting and teaching fields in NZ and in the UK. His recent clients include: Fletcher Building, Fonterra, NZ Police, Fonterra Brands, Red Cross NZ and Turners and Growers. Mark now runs NZ Facilitators, who provide facilitation throughout New Zealand.

Sarah Roan

Senior L&D Advisor, Intergen


Sarah Roan is the Senior Learning and Development Advisor at Intergen.


Sarah spent the first part of her career in North America. There she got her start in Learning & Development with a privately held, Global Distribution and Logistics firm, BDP International. BDP employs over 4000 employees globally.  She began her journey in Learning & Development as the sole Training & Education Specialist and over the next 7 years grew into a true team of 5 L&D Professionals and lead the group as the Global Director of Training, Education & Development. Sarah’s passion for employee development saw the organization launch a global Leadership Development Program throughout North America, Europe and Asia Pacific.


Nearly 3 years ago, Sarah left home and moved to Wellington where she is currently the Senior Learning & Development Advisor for Intergen. Intergen was in a similar situation to BDP so Sarah was in a unique position to help them build their Learning & Development framework. Sarah continues to draw on her skills as a facilitator, instructional designer, learning and development advisor as the team at Intergen enhance their L&D offerings.


Sarah’s passion for Learning & Development comes from seeing measurable change in employee engagement, capability and development. No two days are ever the same and that constant change makes each day quite exciting!

Angie Lund

Learning Specialist, Kmart


Angie says that she has had the opportunity to work with some truely fantastic people in her career and have never stopped learning along the way and doesn't expect to either! She has  worked in a variety of HR and Learning & Development roles over the past 17 years gaining experience in both the public and private sectors.


She says that she loves what she does and has a philosophy based around this strange passion for training people to learn – more sustainable than training people to be trained!



Susan Lowe

International HR and L&D consultant


Susan’s 19 year career has spanned Operational Management, Generalist HR Management as well as Learning and Organisational Development Management roles across the diverse FMCG, Retail and Trade sectors both here in NZ and the UK.


Susan is fervent about all things people but specifically growing capability, managing talent, having innovative approaches to career and development as well as future proofing organisations through learning and culture.


Heading up the Learning, Talent and OD function at Noel Leeming, Susan and her team were recognised for their innovative work integrating technology with learning, part of which was introducing social learning to produce outstanding business results.


Susan then spent time as GM HR at Repco with accountability for Learning, and is passionate about how Learning professionals add value to organisations, step outside of the box, cross traditional boundaries and work cross-functionally with their HR colleagues to impact culture, business results, lift capability and importantly retain talent.
